It is the green lung of Santiago and an open space to walks and sports activities. It is located on Cerro San Cristóbal and it has an extension of 722 hectares that unites 4 communes: Providencia, Recoleta, Huechuraba and Vitacura. There are many attractions around the park such as swimming pools, sports activities and it has more than thirty hectares distributed in squares and gardens, such as the Japanese Garden, Mapulemu Garden where Chilean flora is exhibited and the Gabriela Mistral Children's Playground. The National Zoo is the main one in the capital and the oldest. It was inaugurated in 1925 and nowadays it has more than a thousand animals of different species, both native and exotic. You can contemplate the city from the cable cars or get to the top by taking the funicular.
