This park is one of the most recent and modern parks in Santiago City. It is a family place, the ideal choice to go for a walk on spring and summer weekends, and then they settle under the trees to share a picnic and spend the whole afternoon there quietly. It was designed by the architect Teodoro Fernández and is located on the edge of the Mapocho River and includes 30 hectares of green areas with around 4,000 native and introduced trees, grassy esplanades, trails and two artificial lagoons with black-necked swans, flamingos, fish and floating plants. Inside the facilities we can find modern playgrounds, a garden for blind people, an amphitheater, drinking water cylinders and a special area for dogs. The Vitacura Civic Center is also located in the park in a huge and modern building of 20 thousand square meters built based on reinforced concrete, marble and glass.
