Of neoclassical style, the Government Palace was inaugurated in 1805

The Government Palace was inaugurated in 1805 and it has a unique architectural neoclassical style in Latin America. Inside, there are two main quadrangles: Los Naranjos and Los Cañones. La Moneda Palace was built by the Frenchman Joaquín Toesca and is the home of the Presidents of Chile. This is where the most important political decisions that have marked the history of the country are made. Inside, there are beautiful White, Red, Blue, Yellow rooms. decorated with furniture from the colonial period and great paintings works, including those by Roberto Matta. During the Michelle Bachelet government, the room where President Salvador Allende died was restored, preserving the original furniture and two paintings from the painter Aldo Bahamonde. The first one shows the president waving from the balcony and the second one shows the same balcony with the railing destroyed and the edge with visible projectile impacts after the bombardment of the Military Coup. This salon was inaugurated on September 11, 2008.
